Tricks to mix PICs: How to realize hybrid Photonic IC design

Not long ago there was a question: which PIC technology platform would win the photonics race: InP or SoI? But, what about SiN, glass, or polymer? It has become clear that each platform offers certain advantages in performance, size and price, and no winner takes it all. For many applications the way forward is actually combining the various PIC technologies in hybrid PIC designs.
